The most tragic captivity of all is that of Lolita, having spent almost 40 years imprisoned at the Miami, Seaquarium; most of the years she has spent all by herself. As you can see in the film posted below, she is the one Orca who really needs all our help and support.
The federal government is looking into reclassifying Lolita as an endangered species, which means they would be forced to move her back to L Pod in Puget Sound. Click FormLetterSupportingLolita.docxMarch 28th, 2014 is the deadline for submitting public comments regarding Lolita to the federal government. Please click on link above and fill out a copy of letter to mail on Lolita’s behalf. We will be posting news and articles as we receive them. OTHER DOCUMENTARIES ON KILLER WHALES - I will be adding more documentaries as I find them.
Sully the Pilot Whale - In all honesty and fairness, what would have happened to Sully if Seaworld had not stepped in? This is the first time I have ran across a documentary or film that showed a different side of it in a way that does make you stop and think, and that is why I am posting this. And go Sully, may you live a long and happy life.
Whale Life - Another super informative documentary, this one about humpbacked whales. Man, again I had no idea these creatures could be so fascinating. And am really becoming fascinated by false killer whales as well. And while I do love killer whales, totally passionate about them, I will admit to not being a big fan of the transients who prey on other baby whales. While there is not such attack in this video, I believe there is such an attack in one of the videos below, and it totally breaks my heart when they kill that baby grey whale... and they are so purposeful and deadly in their attack.
Saved by Dolphins - This is a hell of a story and features interviews with Lori Marino.

This is a chance for you all to check out New Zealand’s Dr. Ingrid Visser. A sweetheart of a lady doing some of the most amazing work in the world with the killer whales in New Zealand. Thanks to her efforts, Orcas were re-classified from just vulnerable to critically endangered in New Zealand. Dr. Ingrid Visser is one of the true heroes in the killer whale community.
